Haute couture – what the dream is about

There is something so gently awakening in my heart just by mentioning “haute couture”. The fashion because of the fashion itself is the purest form of it – and, somewhat, became my dream. The very first thought I will have on my mind is Dior – as the French origin of the surname combines Dieu (it stands for God) and or (it stands for gold) – and the golden decade of his creativity. I am ever so inspired just by looking at such beautiful forms, and what I love the most is the consistent process of making it real. It beginns with a simple idea (the idea of a dress). The idea is being shown by the drawn lines (illustration). It goes to to the fields of matematics for its specification (pattern making), takes the advantage of the technology for its construction (being sewn) and, by using the uniquess of the handicraft, becomes purified (the final touch). Depending on the idea, that could take the hundreds of hours – but how to show the appreciation towards the knowledge and the time it takes but being taken by its beauty?

In this chapter I will present the bridal piece I recently created – oh, haute couture was never closer to me!

A bit of my creativity

Everything I am creating these days is connected either with my fashion ideas or the poetry. Last October I have started the project I never thought it will appear, and that is chaining the poems free from form into a new poetry book made of 366 poems (exactly, one for each day, including the 29th of February). Inspiration is such a surprising thing! An artist could never know when it will come and in what form.

Let me tell you a short story

…about the idea called „Ladies first“.

It all began with the name that was ringing in my head that night: „Ladies first“. I turned over and asked my roommate how does she like it. She agreed that it suites very well with the ideas I wanted to work on and I accepted it. It was the Valentine’s day 2014.

Charmed by the 1920’s

Even I firstly thought to jump from one theme to another when I am preparing my new blog post, writing about the poetry or the philosophy if the fashion took the place the last time, I was wrong: these days I bought some new fashion books that kept me occupied, including „The history of modern fashion“, written by Daniel James Cole and Nancy Deihl. The book was my desire from the first moment I saw it: it is alike the fashion encyclopaedia! It contains all the main aspects of the fashion from the 1850’s to nowadays, including the most significant designers for each decade. All the illustrations and photographs give such a good insight in the main characteristics so having it brings me such a joy, even it holds the price. The second book here to mention is „101 things I learned in fashion school“ by Alfredo Cabrera and Matthew Frederick. Even the title can suggest that this is nothing more but the book for the beginners, it could be different: the book sums up all the main things about the design itself and the designer’s world making the path to the ideas more specified. Did you know that the destroyed French economy after the WWII started to rise thanks to one designer? Or that the conceptual design started with the attack at Hiroshima? „Fashion is a barometer of culture“, it accentuates, and with that thought it could be developed what the fashion says about the culture the people represent today.

The new ideas

The ideas are everywhere – not only that I like to think ideas, but I am peculiarly open to work on the new ones: as it is the case with the new poetry book I recently began. At first, I did not take it so seriously, but as I noticed that the same idea comes frequently and with the great desire to be expressed, I knew there is something more in it. This new poetry book is also something so new for me too – and it is not what I expected to come: being open for the new and the unpredictable makes me very surprised. From the 18th of this month onwards, already 56 new poems found their place.
