Haute couture – what the dream is about

There is something so gently awakening in my heart just by mentioning “haute couture”. The fashion because of the fashion itself is the purest form of it – and, somewhat, became my dream. The very first thought I will have on my mind is Dior – as the French origin of the surname combines Dieu (it stands for God) and or (it stands for gold) – and the golden decade of his creativity. I am ever so inspired just by looking at such beautiful forms, and what I love the most is the consistent process of making it real. It beginns with a simple idea (the idea of a dress). The idea is being shown by the drawn lines (illustration). It goes to to the fields of matematics for its specification (pattern making), takes the advantage of the technology for its construction (being sewn) and, by using the uniquess of the handicraft, becomes purified (the final touch). Depending on the idea, that could take the hundreds of hours – but how to show the appreciation towards the knowledge and the time it takes but being taken by its beauty?

In this chapter I will present the bridal piece I recently created – oh, haute couture was never closer to me!

Let me tell you a short story

…about the idea called „Ladies first“.

It all began with the name that was ringing in my head that night: „Ladies first“. I turned over and asked my roommate how does she like it. She agreed that it suites very well with the ideas I wanted to work on and I accepted it. It was the Valentine’s day 2014.

Step by step to the half-moon nails

One of the very first impressions about the woman is related to how her hands look. That is not the matter only because most of the women love to look after their nails, but because the hands make a very important part of the nonverbal communication and they can very easily attract our look whilst the communication lasts. I was into carrying for both my hands and the nails since I remember, but I fell in love with the half-moon manicure a couple of years ago. The whole process is not something delicate – the only things that make it a bit more complex are the patience and the preciseness: the rest comes easy!

My new steps

It happened that I did not sew or work on my designing ideas for more than a month. In that time I found myself very occupied by reading the fashion books and considering the way in which my intentions could go – I let the ideas to incubate – and they led me to the designs I will present in this and many future posts. The feminine shape, the whole-coloured fabrics, sequins, ribbons or the uniquely decorated material will become the whole, bounded by two simple rules: elegance and simplicity. More than ever, I am inspired by Dior – the ideas he was working on through the early 1950’s – and I tried to release such feelings in the new period of my work.

Dior and “Dior”

These days I am holding in my hands one of the Vogue’s editions about the most significant couturiers of the last century: “Vogue on Christian Dior”, written and systematized by Charlotte Sinclair, pleases both mind and eyes whilst going through the pages; I am so happy to share the story of Dior herein, since my fashion ideas are very correlated with his fashion sense. The story that goes brings so many surprises!
